Comparing: ISU-122S vs. Challenger

R116_ISU122C_Berlin

A heavy assault gun, built on the basis of the IS tank, was effective against German heavy tanks as well as fortifications. The prototype was built at the Chelyabinsk Kirov Plant in April 1944. The vehicle entered service in August of that year, and a total of 675 vehicles were manufactured in 1944 and 1945.

GB41_Challenger

Created in 1942 based on the extended chassis of the Cromwell. One definite advantage of the new vehicle was its 17-pounder gun, which was the most powerful British gun at that time. This allowed the tank destroyer to effectively hit the enemy at distances up to 1,000 meters. However, the vehicle had a large silhouette and the chassis was overloaded. A total of about 200 vehicles were built.
