Comparing: G.W. Tiger vs. Bat.-Châtillon 155 55 vs. 212A

G_Tiger

Development of an SPG on the chassis of the Pz.Kpfw. VIB Tiger II started in 1942. The project called for designing a common self-propelled gun carriage for the 17 cm Kanone 72 gun and 21 cm Mörser 18/1 howitzer. The concept of the SPG allowed the use of artillery systems from both the carriage and the ground. Work on building an experimental prototype began in 1945.

Bat_Chatillon155_55

A 155-mm SPG design project developed in 1955. The vehicle was intended to be manufactured on the chassis of the U.S. M47 medium tank, which was exported to France. However, the chassis of the French medium tank Batignolles-Châtillon 25 t was preferred over other variants. The initial version existed only in blueprints.

Object_212

Technical requirements for the 212A self-propelled gun were developed in August 1940. The Special Design Bureau No. 2 of the Leningrad Kirov Plant started development based on the KV-220. Blueprints for the vehicle were ready by February 24, 1941, but a prototype was never manufactured. By August of 1941, development was passed on to the UHMP (Ural Heavy Machinery Plant), but a prototype was never built.
